Canada is ‘not an option’ for many fearing loss of TPS
Drawing on the surge of irregular border crossings Canada saw during the first Trump administration, Joel explained why Canada isn’t a solution for TPS holders afraid to return to their own countries, but why it isn’t a necessarily a dead end either. Because Canada does not currently remove people to Haiti or Syria given the ongoing humanitarian crises there, affected individuals may still be able to apply for permanent residence on humanitarian and compassionate grounds.
