About Guidy Mamann

Guidy began his career as an immigration officer of the Department of Citizenship and Immigration at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, and is the founding partner of Mamann, Sandaluk & Kingwell.

He studied political science at York University, graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1985, was called to the Ontario Bar in 1987, and has been practising immigration law since establishing his law firm in downtown Toronto after being called to the bar. Guidy became the youngest lawyer to be certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Immigration Law in 1995. He is one of only 33 lawyers in Ontario certified in Immigration Law, as well as one of only 13 lawyers in Ontario certified as a specialist in Refugee Protection Law – only 12 lawyers in Ontario are certified in both.

Guidy’s high-profile and celebrated cases have attracted international attention, and he is frequently consulted as an immigration expert by journalists, government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on matters pertaining to immigration law and policy. He has been rated by Lexpert, Canada’s leading lawyer rating service, as one of Canada’s “frequently recommended” immigration lawyers.

In addition to representing his clients, Guidy has also served as president of Toronto’s Jewish Immigrant Aid Services (JIAS) as well as the Programme Co-ordinator for the Immigration Section of the Canadian Bar Association.
