About Joel Sandaluk

Joel first developed an interest in immigration and refugee law many years ago when working as a Division Leader at the Community and Legal Aid Services Program (CLASP), a legal aid clinic run by Osgoode Hall law school.

Through his work at CLASP, Joel formed meaningful relationships with clients from the clinics and learned to use law to make a real difference in peoples’ lives, whether they were in detention or facing deportation from Canada. Throughout the course of his career, Joel has represented clients in all aspects of Canadian immigration, refugee and citizenship law with a special focus on immigration litigation and enforcement.

Joel is the leader of the Immigration Litigation Group at Mamann, Sandaluk & Kingwell and is responsible for supervising many of the firm’s associate lawyers as well as maintaining a significant load of own clients.

As a litigator, Joel regularly appears before all four Divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court of Canada, representing clients on detention reviews, refugee hearings, sponsorship appeals, deportation appeals and applications for judicial review, as well as other types of enforcement matters. His insight into new developments in immigration and refugee law is regularly sought after by members the media and he is regularly interviewed by national and international news agencies.

Joel is has lectured at Osgoode Hall Law School, Crown Summer Law School (run by the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General), the Law Society of Upper Canada, and the Ontario Bar Association.
